How I Bought my First Laptop That Made Me 1 Million Naira While As A Student in 2004.
This picture was taken 20 years ago and it always reminds me of my turning point and how I made my first N1m in 2004 before my graduation.
While growing up, despite the fact that my parents were poor, I always had the mindset that money is in abundance and money is everywhere, moving and flying around every second, every minute, every hour and every day.
If you look closely you will see the liabilities I had in my room as a student in 2002. It might be an asset to some of us here but those on the Billionaire Journey will know that they are liabilities.
My Journey started when I read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I then met a friend called Alabara who inspired me to convert all these LIABILITIES (things that take money out of my pocket) into ASSETS (things that bring money into my pocket).
He tricked me into selling them to raise N30k at that time to purchase a Pentium 1 desktop computer, I sold all including one big shoe I had then called Vagabond.
I brought the 30k but how he tricked me and what I did again to raise the funds upto N90k to buy my Pentium 3 computer is a story for another day.
Now, seeing the conversion from liabilities to assets, I invested every money into my assets and made it my hard-working employee in school. In fact, with the computer, I could watch videos, play games and music, but above all, it made money for me.
I started learning computer skills, using them to solve students’ problems. I was able to create a Project Printing Service in Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Instead of printing one original copy and photocopying 4 sets that are not clean, I introduced printing 5 original copies at the same cost.
My room was always busy with students coming to print their projects, in fact, I had Britannica and an encyclopedia installed for more project information. I made sure they were uniquely formatted and excellently printed. I would treat them well and serve them cold soft drinks.
I was serving the students and was making money every day, until I realised I have saved up to N1m but this fascinating endpoint was the beginning point of another difficult stage in my life. Let’s leave the stories for another day.
You see, in this journey, It’s never about WHAT you know or HOW you know it, but WHO you know. Finding your WHO will make your HOWs’ happen faster with WHAT you know. Successful people always find WHO will help them, they find experts that know HOW.
So, while living with my liabilities, I used the Spider wisdom. Instead of working hard chasing flying insects to feed, the Spider smartly builds the spider web that catches abundant flying insects for them while they sleep. Yes, the Spiderweb is called ASSET and works 24/7 catching all the flying money around you.
Who do you know?
What assets do you have?
How will you build the strong spider web that can catch things for you?
