Dear CEO,

The Nigerian economy has caused so much unbearable pain to many of us that we now overthink things. The negative energies in the environment now usually cause us to wake up with negative dreams and negative self-talk, which influence our daily work experiences.

We allow anxieties into our minds; we are constantly thinking of the past and then worrying about the future, which doesn’t yet exist, leaving the present unattended.

There are many ways to overcome negative energies. Here are a few tips that may help:

Practice mindfulness: Being present in the moment can help you become aware of negative thoughts and emotions as they arise, and allow you to choose not to engage with them.

Engage in self-care: Taking care of your physical and emotional well-being can help you build resilience and cope with negative energies. This can include activities such as exercise, getting enough sleep, and eating a healthy diet.

Cultivate gratitude: Focusing on the things you are grateful for can help shift your perspective away from negative energies and towards a more positive outlook.

Seek support: Sharing your struggles with a trusted friend or loved one can provide a sense of connection and support, and can help you work through negative energies.

Seek professional help: If you are struggling to cope with negative energies on your own, consider seeking the help of a mental health professional. They can provide you with additional tools and support to help you overcome negative energies.

Let’s stop sabotaging our lives with all this overthinking if things don’t go as planned. Let’s not become our own worst enemy.

As CEOs, let’s learn to live in the present, accept the way things are, and make great changes for good things to happen.
