I was chatting with a friend recently who has been collecting certificates but still feels stuck when it comes to building wealth.
He is focused on getting more certificates, thinking that is the key to success but its actually the virus that was sold to our youths. I had to share with him how I have built wealth, not through certificates, but by leveraging my skills and people.
I told him, it’s not just about what you know or the number of certificates you have. It’s about what you do with that knowledge. People don’t pay for your certificates; they pay for the value you bring through your skills.”
I explained that many of us are building wealth by applying our skills in the right way. Where and how you consistently use your skills, and who values and appreciates them, plays a huge role in your wealth journey.
I encouraged him to take some time to really identify his core skills and focus on refining them instead of collating certificates without solving problems.
The more specialized and valuable your skills become, the higher the demand will be, and that’s where the real earning potential lies.
I also reminded him that consistently delivering value is key. When you use your skills to solve problems and meet the needs of others, you build a solid reputation. That reputation leads to repeat business, referrals, and long-term success.
Finally, I told him to surround himself with people who appreciate and support his skills. These are the people who can open doors to new opportunities and connect him with clients who truly value what he has to offer.
I am sharing this here because some of us might be in the same situation as my friend. It’s time to stop chasing certificates and start thinking about how you can use your skills to create real value in the world. That’s the true path to wealth.
I am still the Billionaire Mechanic. I love you.
