In the world of business and branding, perception often outweighs reality. That’s right. It’s not always the best or most accurate information that wins the day—it’s the most well-known and well-promoted.
Think about it: you might have the most innovative product or service in your industry, but if no one knows about it, does it even exist in the eyes of your customers?
This reminds me of a conversation I had recently with Somiari Lucky, one of my brilliant team members. His analysis of perception using animals blew my mind. Let me share some of his insights:
1. The Eagle vs. the Vulture
We all know the eagle as the ultimate symbol of strength, vision, and dominance in the skies. The eagle is celebrated as the bird that soars the highest. But here’s the catch: the Rüppell’s griffon vulture can actually fly higher than the eagle, reaching altitudes of over 37,000 feet.
Yet, when we think of power and altitude, it’s the eagle that comes to mind. Why? Better PR. The eagle has been marketed so effectively over time that it’s become the undisputed champion of the skies in our collective consciousness.
2. The Cheetah vs. the Peregrine Falcon
The cheetah has long been celebrated as the fastest animal on Earth, capable of reaching speeds of 70 mph on land. But did you know that the peregrine falcon is even faster? It can dive at speeds of over 200 mph.
Despite this, the cheetah steals the spotlight in wildlife documentaries and media. Once again, perception beats reality.
3. The Lion as the King of the Jungle
We’ve all grown up believing the lion is the King of the Jungle. But technically, lions don’t even live in jungles—they thrive in savannas and grasslands. Still, the lion’s reputation reigns supreme because of centuries of stories and imagery reinforcing its dominance.
The Lesson for Entrepreneurs
In business, being the best isn’t enough. If you don’t market and promote yourself, you will get overshadowed by brands that do. The loudest, most visible brand often wins, even if their product isn’t the best.
Your story, your PR, and your marketing are the keys to unlocking visibility. It’s not about being boastful; it’s about making sure your excellence doesn’t go unnoticed.
Ask yourself:
- Are you the vulture flying higher than the eagle but going unnoticed because you’re quiet?
- Are you the peregrine falcon diving at record-breaking speeds but overshadowed by the cheetah?
The Pamtech Approach
At Pamtech Group, we’ve learned the power of visibility, storytelling, and consistent messaging. That’s how we’ve built recognition and impact across industries.
But don’t just take my word for it. Look at people like Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze—her mastery of PR and storytelling has elevated her brand to iconic status.
So, What’s Your Brand’s Story?
How are you amplifying your message? How are you ensuring your business isn’t the best-kept secret in your industry?
Remember: Even the strongest need to make noise to get noticed. Be loud, be proud, and let your story be heard.
I am still the ONLY BILLIONAIRE MECHANIC. That’s perception—and you’ve believed it.
